• Behind the Name

  Alemayehu (Al-eh-may-you) means "I have seen the world" in direct translation. However, it is a combination of other words that mean "Gift to the World" and is often used by parents who are ecstatic to have received their child. For the lion cub Alehmayehu, it's a mix of both the figurative and the literal. His parents had failed many times and were soon to be separated for their failure within the militaristic pride. But then he came along and he was the light of their lives. A gift. His father always said there was something in his eyes though. A knowledge, a hope, a need. He'd been there before. Given that within the pride, the idea of reincarnation was prevalent, it was accepted that Alemayehu had already seen the world. And was ready to see more.

• Personality

  Alemayehu is quiet and composed, learning to be hidden and quiet so he could learn from those older than him. He's observant and fierce, with a quick tongue and sharp mind. He rarely shows excitement, or any other emotion for that matter. He is still a cub, however, and much can change with an open home.
